The idea of establishing a community to gather all the Syrian blogs under one umbrella crossed the mind of many Syrians bloggers. And with the beginning of the year when Damascus is to be nominated as the Capital of Arab Culture, Ahmad spread the idea in the Syrian blogs and Omar adopted it then they both supported the scheme. The two partners started collecting the bloggers’ suggestions and interacted with those who were interested and that was the initiation of the scheme. Thus, the dream of gathering the Syrian blogs come to light.
In the special day 8-8-2008, Syrian and Arab blogging will be waiting for the new born scheme that would be entitled “AlMudawen”: the Arabic literal translation of the word “Blogger” which is the name of the most worldwide well known site for blogging..
“AlMudawen” was established to be the real and main umbrella for Syrian blogs no matter how much differences there might be among the writers’ thoughts and backgrounds. Everyone will be able to express himself freely, spread the ideas he believes in and posts the threads he finds appropriate.
This site is now at the stage of trial transmission, therefore some services will be missing but the availability of all the services will be as soon as possible God willing..

The main goals for “AlMudawen” can be summarized by the following points:
• The horizontal expansion which is formulated by the increasing number of the Syrian blogs as we are looking forward to having a blogger in every single street in our beloved country Syria who tells his story and spreads his news.
• The vertical expansion which is formulated in special and knowledgeable blogging - whether specialized or general – thus helping in enriching the digital content through Syrian writing and blogging.
•Creating a channel of communication with the Syrian expatriates abroad, and linking them to their extended families in homeland: Syria..
•Spreading information about Syria, its people, its civilization and culture by providing examples of its youth’s cultural, intellectual and cognitive creativity.
So, “AlMudawen” is not just a technical service as it is seems, but it is a “knowledge” service in the first place which draws the cultural and civilized path to the Syrian blogger.
“AlMudawen” Sections:
* Two home pages: every one is different from the other as to its content, one is Arabic for the Arabic Syrian blogs and the other one is English for the English Syrian blogs.
And in the case when the same blog has Arabic and English threads then the site will separate the Arabic and English ones and send every post to the appropriate place.
“AlMudawen” Selections:
This is the most important task for the site’s editors during this period. The editor’s team will have to read all the posts in the Syrian blogs and choose the best among them according to the site’s special conditions.

It is an automatically flow where the site’s servers update it every several minutes after visiting all the blogs registered in “AlMudawen”; this part is done automatically without the interference of the editors’ team.
